Sensitive-The Untold Story

Are you "too shy" or "too sensitive" according to others? Do you have a keen imagination and vivid dreams? Is time alone each day as essential to you as food and water? Do noise and confusion quickly overwhelm you? Did you have meltdowns and tantrums as a child? If your answers are yes, you may be a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP). Most of us feel overstimulated every once in a while, but for the Highly Sensitive Person, it's a way of life. About 1 in 5 people are highly sensitive -- and most don't know it. Nor do the people who love them. They just know that their loved one can cry easily, react to situations that others just shrug their shoulders at, and otherwise take things just too personally.

Sensitive-The Untold Story is based on the findings of bestselling author-psychologist Dr. Elaine Aron and features 7-time Grammy winner Alanis Morissette. In 1991 Dr. Aron made a breakthrough discovery: an innate trait of high sensitivity. Since then, her international bestseller "The Highly Sensitive Person" has been translated into 19 languages and her research is published in top-tier peer reviewed journals such as The Journal of Personality and Social Psychology and Brain and Behavior, as well as replicated and extended by other scientists, who are interviewed in the film. There are now fMRI and genetic studies on the subject. Dr. Aron found that not only 1 in 5 people are highly sensitive, but the trait occurs in the same percentage in over 100 other species. This trait (found in both men and women) reflects a certain type of survival strategy: being observant before acting. The brains of highly sensitive persons (HSPs) actually work differently than others’. HSPs think deeply, get easily overwhelmed by intense, complex or novel things, are more attentive to subtleties and have more empathy, so they cry easily.

"[Sensitive-The Untold Story] covers such a dense amount of information, and such a wide range of how and where this trait shows up...all done in a way that is very clear, and intelligent and touching. Bless you for making this film. It is an honor to have been a part of it, and to be part of this generous outreach to so many HSP's and their loved ones. Such a major contribution to the world. Congratulations on a truly stunning documentary.... to you and your whole team. Alanis." -Alanis Morissette
